Welcome to Origami-United!!
This club is dedicated to the honor of any and all origami Enthusiasts regardless of skill level. We are a gathering of origami enthusiasts who fold items from basic animals and flora to modular polyhedra to tessellations!
Anyone is Welcome to join Origami United, even if they don’t do any kind of paper folding themselves! Just having an appreciation for origami is basis enough for you to be welcomed into our community. So without further ado, welcome! And enjoy your time here at Origami United.

Hey everyone! =danikalsupremacy here, (yes I am still alive!)

Anyways…….

On behalf of *Origami-United, I am pleased to announce our very first Origami Contest!! After much discussion, Your fellow admin and I feel it is time to get started on some new projects here in the club.


Perhaps this is a good time to discuss the contest.
First is the theme!! The Christmas holidays are upon us and as such, a contest involving those themes are more than appropriate. You are welcome to submit anything from simple holiday figures, to more elaborate setups with multiple origami and paper craft structures, to modulars with festive themed colors, even to entire Christmas trees decorated purely with origami! Let your imagination run wild! If you put up any type of decoration for the holidays, you don’t just put up one light do you? Of course not! Often several are put up to exaggerate the display. Please do the same with this contest. If you make a holiday themed figure, why not make several, and integrate them into a setting, or even build the setting out of paper too! Instead of making a single origami ornament for your Christmas tree, decorate your ENTIRE tree with origami! Of course, you don’t have to do these things, but they look good to the judges, and good hard effort is always a sure way to a better chance at winning.

***Please note!! We want you to make this origami SPECIFICALLY for this competition. We are going to check when you submitted it to make sure that it falls within the allotted time gates. Any deviations outside these boundaries will be disqualified. That said, let it also be known that unless the contest receives at least 10 entries, the contest submission period will reset one time, and if after the amount of time to submit entries has been doubled, and 10 entries still have not been received, then the contest is void.***


Criteria
Yes…we are going to be judging as well as grading you! After the scoring is complete, we will be sending EVERY ENTRANT a note with their scorecard and the judges’ comments. This scorecard is something like an advanced critique times three. You will be getting tons of feedback, so we highly recommend you accept the comments we have to make. Of course, if you are totally opposed to this, please let us know when you submit your entry so we can be sure to hide our comments from you.


You will be graded on:
Originality of design
Complexity of design
Visual presentation of design(technique, precision, etc.)
External presentation of design, (how you chose to photograph your piece for final display)
